ServicesWeb Application Development
Web applications built around how your team works.
Software for the jobs off-the-shelf tools don’t fit. Planned, built and supported in-house, with one technical lead who knows the system from the first conversation onwards.
What’s included
Web Application Development, covered.
Bespoke web applications built around a specific task or process. Interactive customer tools, searchable databases and internal systems that connect information and help people get things done.
- 01
Internal systems
Replace spreadsheets and email chains with a system built for the job, used by your team every day.
- 02
Interactive customer tools
Planners, calculators and configurators that help customers work something out, and send you an enquiry when they have.
- 03
Searchable databases
Fast search with filters, saved searches and export, across hundreds of thousands of records.
- 04
Client portals
Secure areas where your clients sign in to see their data, documents and orders, with payments where they’re needed.
- 05
Accounts and permissions
Sign-in, roles, multi-factor authentication and audit trails, set up properly from the start.
- 06
Beyond the browser
When the work needs to leave the browser, we build for mobile and desktop too.
How it works
What each stage delivers.
- 01
Discovery
We map the process, the data and the people involved, then agree what the first version must do and what it will cost.
- Process map
- Proposal and costs
- 02
Prototype
A clickable prototype to test the key screens with the people who will use them.
- Clickable prototype
- 03
Build
Developed in-house in releases, so you can use and review it as it grows.
- Working releases
- 04
Run and improve
Hosting, monitoring and support after launch, and new features as your needs change.
- Hosted, monitored application
- Support plan
Platforms
What we build with.
- NEXT.JS AND REACT
- Interfaces and server logic in one typed codebase, quick to build and easy to maintain.
- POSTGRESQL
- A proven database, with sign-in, file storage and access rules enforced at the database level.
- TYPESCRIPT
- Typed from the database to the screen, which catches mistakes before your users do.
Recent work
Work we’ve led.
Case studies are on the way. In the meantime, a few of the projects behind this service.
Bibra
TRACE
Bibra’s system for searching, recording and exporting toxicology literature, used every day by its team of around 20. It holds more than 211,000 records linked to over 122,000 chemicals.
VPS Group
RiskLayers
Plan site security on a satellite map: place towers, cameras and detectors, see their coverage, and send the plan with an enquiry.
Questions
Common questions.
Should we build something or buy an existing product?
Buy when an existing product fits how you work. Build when it doesn’t, and your team is bending its process around a tool or keeping things in spreadsheets. We will tell you honestly which side of that line you are on.
Can it work with the systems we already use?
Usually, yes. Most systems offer an API, and we connect to them so information moves between systems without being typed in twice.
How do you keep our data secure?
Access is controlled by role, with multi-factor authentication available, and enforced in the database itself as well as the interface. Data is hosted on managed platforms, and we design data handling to meet UK GDPR.
What happens after launch?
We host, monitor and support the application, fix problems, and add features as your needs change, so the people who built it keep it running.
